This article refers to a planned ship that was not actually built.

ww2dbaseZ40 was the name given to the planned German Type 1936B destroyer, ordered in Feb 1941. She was cancelled later in the year, and the name Z40 would be reassigned to the Spähkreuzer 1938-class Scout Cruiser originally named SP1.
