Model 43 Stielhandgranate Grenade

Country of OriginGermany
TypeGrenade
Diameter70.000 mm

Contributor:

ww2dbaseThe Model 43 Stielhandgranate was introduced to the German Army in 1943, commonly sharing the same "stick grenades" or "potato mashers" nickname with their Model 24 predecessors. They had hollow handles each with concealed pull cords on one end and metal cylinders at the other end containing the igniters and the explosives. Unlike the Model 24 grenades, the Model 43 grenades had their explosive charge and fuses in single units. After pulling on the cords to arm them, the delay before explosion was about 5.5 to 7 seconds.
