The German Army used a family of Half-Tracked
vehicles called Sd.Kfz.6,7,8,9 They were designed to artillery and cargo.
Technically they were peacetime designs they
were too complex, and the variety of models
too great to withstand the tough demands of
mass production.

The Sd.Kfz 10,1 ton Demag pulled light anti-aircraft,anti-tank guns and light artillery.
Some models had weapons mounted on the beds.
Other models carried cargo and pulled light trailers. Also some vehicles were modified for other duties.

Sd.Kfz 11,3 ton Hanomag pulled medium and larger artillery and rocket launchers.

Sd.Kfz.6 ,5 ton Bussing-NAG, saw little service, and were used in duties the same as
the 3 ton model.

The very heavy half-tracked Sd.Kfz.7,8 ton
Krauss-Maffei,the Sd.Kfz.8 12 ton, and the Sd.Kfz.9, 18 ton Famo Fahrzeug und Motorenwerken pulled heavy artillery some were even modified to carry the 88mm gun, as
a self-propelled anti-aircraft and anti-tank
gun.

The Sd.Kfz.9 Famo 18 tons were used as heavy recovery vehicles for tanks, but when you
needed to recover a Tiger Tank, you needed
the pulling power of 3 Sd.Kfz 9's to do the
job!. These vehicles were later replaced by recovery tanks.

After World War II many of these vehicles
were salvaged, and used in the Post-War period.
