ww2dbaseSubmarine ShCh-401 began her life under the designation of ShCh-313 of the Soviet Baltic Fleet. Prior to the Russo-German War which began in Jun 1941, she was transferred to the Soviet Northern Fleet, which necessitated her designation to ShCh-401. In Apr 1942, she became missing off northern Norway some time after reporting she had attacked German submarine chaser UJ 1110 in failure; she either struck a mine shortly after the report, or was pursued and destroyed by UJ 1110.
