ww2dbaseKashi entered Japanese Navy service in the final phases of WW1 and served in the Mediterranean Sea, based in Malta. In 1937, Japan transferred Kashi to the puppet state of Manchukuo, which renamed her Haiwei and made her the flagship of the Manchukuo navy. In 1942, as Japan required additional shipping due to war demands, she reacquired the ship. Renamed yet again, destroyer Kari served in convoy escort duties, among other tasks. In Oct 1944, while off Okinawa, Japan, she was sunk by carrier aircraft of US Navy Task Force 38.
