ww2dbaseBritish submarine Oberon was the first of nine boats of the O-class submarines; in fact, she was the prototype. She had weapons typical of submarines during her period. She had had fuel stowed in riveted external tanks, which made her vulnerable to depth charges as it was possible that the external tanks would leak fuel during such attacks, thus revealing her position, though that vulnerability was never tested as she served in British waters as a trainer during WW2. Her final decommission took place at Blyth, Northumberland, England, United Kingdom in 1944. She was sold for scrap on 24 Aug 1945.
