This article refers to a planned ship that was not actually built.

ww2dbaseM was one of the 6 M1-class light cruisers that the German Navy planned but never launched. This lead ship, like her five sisters to follow, was intended to be used as a fast merchant raider. Her keel was laid down in 1938, but the work ceased on on 19 Sep 1939. She was broken up shortly after. Her second keel laying was nominally re-scheduled for 1944, but even in 1939 German Navy leadership had a sense that the ship was never to be built.
