Vasily Zaytsev 1915-1991

Army sniper during the Battle of Stalingrad
He killed 242 German soldiers, both enlisted
and officers, other Axis soldiers and six snipers.

Did You Know..

Zaytsev served in the Red Navy as a clerk,
and volunteered for front-line duty.
Serving with the 1047th Rifle Regimate he
used the 7.62x54mm Mosin-Nagant Bolt-Action
Rifle.

Over 37,000,000 were made the rifle is still
in use today around the world.
In the civilian world the Mosin-Nagant found its way into hunting and sports-shooting.

His skill as a experienced sniper allowed him to establish a sniper school.
It is estimated that the snipers trained killed over 3,000 enemy soldiers.
Today every U.S. Army sniper must memorize his tactics and methods during training.

HERO OF THE SOVIET UNION

He was wounded in battle, and returned to duty. Awarded The Hero of the Soviet Union he survived World War II and retired with
the rank of Captain.
After the war he worked as a manager of a factory in Kiev he died in 1991 age 76
