Also, the LVT in the background is an LVT(A)-4, not an LVT(A)-2. You can determine this because of the gun. The LVT(A)-4 had a 75mm Howitzer whereas the LVT(A)-2 did not

My father is the Marine on the left in this photo. His name was Donald J. Murray, and he was 19 years old when the Marines landed on Saipan in June 1944. My father passed away in 2001.

I believe the marine crawling to the left and in the center of the photo to be my grandfather, PFC Clement William Krauss Jr. He would've been 20 years old at the time of this photo. He passed away in 1999.

The Battle of Saipan, or Invasion of Saipan, whichever you'd like to call it, did not start until June 15, 1944, not the 13th.
