IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY AIR FORCE: CHINA

Line-up of Nakajima Hi-27 Nates assigned to the 64th Sentai. First Nate has red engine cowling and what looks like a red eagle below the cockpit.
The Nate was armed w/2 x 7.7mm machine guns and was the standard low wing fixed landing gear fighter.
During the Pacific War with the US and its Allies, the Ki27 was operated as a second-line fighter-trainer in Japan. The Nate was also operated by civilian flying schools in Japan under contract with the Imperial Army to train pilots.
