Many personnel and aircraft of the 34th Bombardment Squadron, but not this one, participated in the Doolittle Raid.

THE SOUTH AMERICAN CONNECTION:

The US supplied B-25 Mitchell bombers during WWII and after the war, to friendly South American Governments some of those aircraft were in service into the late 1970s

Brazil: received B-25s from the US during WWII and into the post-war period operated them into the 60s and 70s operated early jet aircraft.

Venezula: Operated them into the 1970s as well. Operated early jet aircraft.

Urugary: Operated a mix of WWII supplied fighters and bombers last were retired in the 70s operated early jet aircraft.

Peru: Operated WWII aircraft retired in the 60s and 70s operated early jet aircraft.

Chile: Operated a mix of WWII fighters and bombers and early jet aircraft.

Cuba: Operated a mix of B-25 and B-26 bombers
and other prop driven fighters and early types of jet aircraft.

Mexico: Operated WWII aircraft fighters and bombers into the 60s and 70s

B-25A assigned to 17th Bomb Group, 34th Bomb Squadron. Aircraf twas based at McCord Army Air Field locted in Washington State and flew anti-submarine patrol.
Did you know that the 17th Bomb Group would later train the crews for the Doolittle Raid against Japan.

Who would know where the Thunderbird logo came from. looks similar to a Cheyenne thunderbird I saw.
