• Royal Navy Destroyer HMS Hurworth was sunk after striking a mine in the Aegean Sea whilst going to the aid of the Greek destroyer Adrias which had been severely damaged by a mine that day. • Block 11 of Auschwitz I concentration camp held a trial that sentenced 76 men and 19 women to death; they had been transferred from the prison in Myslowitz.
