• German forces began a 5-day bombardment of Sevastopol, Russia. One the ground, large weapons such as the 600mm Mörser Karl mortars and the 800mm "Gustav" railway gun were used. • Leonardo da Vinci sighted Panamanian sailing ship Reine Marie Stewart en route between Lourenço Marques, Mozambique and New York, United States in the Atlantic Ocean at 1745 hours.
