ww2dbaseThe FN.305 low-wing cantilever monoplane aircraft were designed as trainers and liaison aircraft. In 1938, the Italian Air Force ordered 285 aircraft, most of which were of the FN.305A two-seat variant, with a few FN.305C and FN.305D single-seat variants. Then, 9 were sold to Chile, 31 were sold to Romania with license to build additional aircraft (124 would be built by Romania), 41 were sold to France, 1 was sold to Bulgaria, and 50 were sold to Hungary. In Mar 1939, the first FN.305D variant accomplished a record-breaking flight between Rome, Italy and Addis Ababa, Abyssinia, completing the 4,463.8-kilometer (2,773.68-mile) flight at the average speed of 240 kilometers per hour (149 miles per hour). Production of FN.305 aircraft in Italy would cease in 1943.
