Threadfin Operational Timeline

1945年3月31日 United States submarines operating off Kyushu received orders to form a wolfpack consisting of USS Silversides, USS Threadfin, and USS Hackleback. Unit commander would be the commanding officer of USS Silversides, Cdr J.C. Nichols, and thus the wolfpack would be known as "Nicks Nippers."
1945年4月6日 USS Hackleback and USS Threadfin made radar contact with the Japanese force centered around battleship Yamato. Hackleback attempted to close on the force but was driven away by escorting destroyers. Both submarines broadcast a report of the enemy task force.
