My father Gene Maurice was on the Saginaw Bay. He was the youngest on the ship at 17 years old in '44. He plaid the trumpet and was in engineering. I have collected much data, and have all my fathers navy materials and books.

My Father, Ens/LTGJ M.E. Weide, served on the Sagina Bay, providing direct air support and CAP during Peleliu, Leyte Gulf & Luzon. His aircraft was primarily the GM version of the Wildcat FM2. He was awarded the Gold Star and other meritorious citations. He passed on in 2002. He and all of his generation are sorely missed. We will never forget them and always acknowledge and appreciate the better world that they fought for. God bless them all.
