This book is about a soldier who fought with the 43rd Motorcycle Infantry Battalion of the 13th German Panzer Division and then with an anti-tank unit equipped with Marder, and later Hornisse (Nashorn), tank destroyers. The descriptions of the fighting while with the motorcycle battalion in Russia are very sobering as the authour paints a picture that makes you fully understand what he saw and felt. The fighting up to and including Dnjepropetrowsk, Ukraine had me both laughing and sitting there wide eyed. The fighting with the Hornisse tank destroyer is also extremely well described, as is the crews that fought with him during the many battles. He goes on to describe the vehicles and how they were disabled, destroyed, or abandoned. The fighting goes on through all the withdraws, ultimately ending in the surrender to American forces.

I found this book at Aberdeen Bookstore website. Published by J. J. Fedorowicz Inc., it is 250 pages in length with a few photos (not previously seen) spread throughout. The very last pages contain some colour plate drawings of the vehicle that the authour fought in.

I found I couldn't stop reading this book and finished it in quick time. It is HIGHLY recommended.
