ww2dbaseSentaro Omori was born in Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan. He was a 30-year veteran of the Japanese Navy who commanded Destroyer Squadron 1 at the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the attack on the Aleutian Islands in 1942 with the rank of rear admiral. In Nov 1943, as a vice admiral, he commanded the 5th Cruiser Division and defeated the American forces at the Battle of Empress Augusta Bay. Between Nov 1943 and the end of the war, he was the head of the Torpedo School at Yokosuka.
