Was on the rock in 1962-63 with U.S.C.G. Visited Machinato and also had the opportunity to fly over Ernie Pyle monument in U.S.Army chopper... I left a big piece of my heart in the beautiful land of the rising sun, and am now engaged in a language and culture exchange with a couple of familys in Yokohama, and Hokkaido... I was stationed at Okinawa from August 1967 for an 18 month tour. I was with the 2nd Logistic Command, assigned to 16 LEGS, Maintenance Company, near the Ry Police Station at a place called Camp Boone, it was near the inlet and above the ocean where there was a sket shooting range and a small restaurant. We were billeted in Quonsit Huts from WWII. I worked down at the large warehouse complex near Naha. The pictures that Mr. Brand posted are totally different then I remember. Camp Kue, Gate Two Street, Kadena, Fort Buckner are some of the Military bases I remember. It would be nice to contact some one that was assigned to the 16th LEGS, I have lost my records and the list of those assigned to the unit at that time. Thank you for allowing me to post. My 18 months were good compared to my fellow veterans/friends in country at Vietnam. Take care and God Bless all those serving now and then. J King
