Army Special Attack Units:
Existing squadrons were designated and trained with missions of air-to-air ramming
of Allied aircraft, and other targets.
Most aircraft had weapons removed, and the
airframes reinforced. During the final phase
of the war, dedicated Kamikaze units were
formed about 170 units with 12 aircraft each
giving total strength over 2,000 aircraft.

made airworthy rebuilt from different airframes.
The Allies tested both Japanese Army and Navy
aircraft at Eagle farm, located in Australia
One Nakajima Ki-43 was captured at Hollandia
New Guinea in 1944.
The Oscar was shipped to Eagle farm restored
to flying condition and tested. The Oscar is now in the possession of the Alpine Fighter Collection, New Zealand
