The snake-head pitot tube on the port wing gives this plane away as a Curtiss SB2C Helldiver. The majority of US Naval aerial photography in WW2 was taken from the SB2C.

Wrong! That's a Grumman wing, if ever there was one. It's an Avenger.

Upon further review.........I'm not so sure it's not a Helldiver. I defer to Mr. Stubblebine.

TG 58.5 coming out of Funifuti for Flintlock (Kwajalein) heading for rendezvous to reform into the first carrier task groups of TF 58 the next day. One of the most potent single formation surface groups ever put together: with both North Carolinas, all 4 South Dakotas, and Iowa and New Jersey, 3 heavy cruisers and 17 DDs, plus Bunker Hill and Monterey for air cover.
