I was in the Air Force and made a beach landing on Morotai. The LST we were on ramed the beach, opened the bow doors and we unloaded our maitenance equipment. We were able to hear the Japanese warming up their Aircraft to come over and bomb us.
During one air raid I got hit and woke up in the 105th Gen. Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. Now 92 years old and still active. Also veteran of Vietnam and Korea. Aided the French Forces in Vietnam,(Saw NO combat Vietnam or Korea) M/Sgt (Ret) Gtaduated SAC Air Force Acadmey. Respectfuly L. R. DeGennaro

My Father William Richard Sullivan served with the 3rd Australian Signals Corp and 4th Engineer Signals. He was deployed to Morotai 5/04/1945 until September 1945. He was 21 when he enlisted on 16th September 1941. He trained at Balcombe, Victoria and Mundijong W.A. and then onto Bonegilla, Vic. From there he was transferred to Cairns and onto New Guinea. Dad did not speak very much about his experiences, but at least he survived and came home uninjured. He passed away in 1991

"Among the men who fought on Iwo Jima, uncommon valor was a common virtue."Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, 16 Mar 1945

My father Rex J. Allee fought on the Island of Morotai. He was in the Army. I have a few pictures of him there. He also ran radar and had interesting stories to tell about it. Radar and P-38 night fighters ended the nightime bombing of the island by the Japanese.
