Accompanying Gen Eisenhower are (left to right):
Colonel Claude Putnam, Commanding Officer of the 91st Bomb Group based at Bassingbourn;
unidentified US Navy Captain on Eisenhower’s staff at SHAEF;
unidentified USAAF staff officer;
Lt General Jimmy Doolittle, Commander of the USAAF Eighth Air Force;
Captain Harry Faulkner, 91st Bomb Group Ordnance Officer; and
Lt General Carl Spaatz, Commander of the USAAF Strategic Air Forces in Europe.
[Some sources identify the USAAF staff officer left of Gen Doolittle as Gen Bartlett Beaman, Chief of Staff of the USAAF First Bombardment Division, but this is incorrect. General Beaman was much taller with a very slender face and would be wearing Command Pilot wings (like Col Putnam) instead of Pilot Wings.]
