Note the Low pressure system depicted over Okinawa; this was the second storm, in addition to Typhoon Connie, that was approaching the fleet. Note also the CinCPac position for Typhoon Connie that conflicts with Hornet’s actual track of the storm for that same time by almost 150 miles. The storm location marked “CTU 31.29.26” is the radar fix provided by USS Ancon. Note Hornet’s track, along with the other 75 ships in her company, crossing the track of the storm’s center.
