ww2dbaseThe Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant was established in 1939 in Ulan-Ude, the capital of Buryat-Mongol Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in eastern Russia (the word Mongol was dropped from the republic's name in 1958). The original purpose of this plant was for repairing I-16 fighters and SB bombers. During WW2, it received equipment to produce La-5 and La-7 fighters. After the war, the plant remained in production and grew into the leading industrial enterprise in this region of Russia, producing a number of military helicopters, military jet aircraft, civilian boats, washing mahcines, furniture, and consumer goods through the date of this writing in 2023.
