Contributor:

ww2dbaseThe X-PO prototype fighter was designed by Zhu Jiaren of the Technical Bureau of the Chinese Air Force in 1941. It was built upon the Hawk 75 fighter design by Curtiss. The prototype took flight in 1943, but the entry of the United States into the war meant there was no more need for the Republic of China to have its own fighter design. The prototype aircraft suffered damage on the maiden flight and was written off, and no further examples were built.
